Interactive Media Case Study: Diabetes Control for Life

Audience:  Diabetes Educators, people with Type 2 Diabetes

Challenge: The company planned to distribute the Program to consumers through Diabetes Educators, so it needed to be positioned as a helpful tool that complements the one-on-one counseling these healthcare professionals offer. The program is delivered to a national audience through local, small group meetings. The objective was to package everything necessary so local facilitators deliver a consistent message.

Solution: A three-phase program was designed that included:

1. An interactive video/DVD with planned discussion breaks to roll the program out to Diabetes Educators in a "Lunch & Learn" session.

2. Another version of the interactive video/DVD for the Diabetes Educators to use in rolling the program out to patients in live sessions.

3. An interactive mini CD-ROM was developed for patients that included excerpts from the video, a preview of the website & its benefits, information about the nutritional product, product coupon and a direct link to the sign-in page.

NOTE: While this online program was developed to support the product (Glucerna), the content focused more on lifestyle changes to control blood glucose levels and overall management of diabetes than on the product. The entire program could have been rolled out without the product tie-in.
